The
RIPA Scholarship Story
In 1996 at a monthly dinner meeting, the Rhode Island Pilots Association members
heard about a deserving young student pilot who was struggling financially
to finish his training. It was unanimously voted to grant him $500 so he could
earn his Certificate. It was then proposed that the Association become more
active in encouraging future aviators and students wanting to enter an aviation-related
career. The Rhode Island Pilots Association Scholarship Fund was established;
funded mainly by a “Twenty Week Club” and member donations. Scholarships
have been awarded each year since to qualified candidates wishing to pursue
pilot flight training, or a scholarship committee-approved aviation-related
educational program.
If YOU would like to donate to the Rhode Island Pilots Association Scholarship
Fund, we encourage you to
contact us by email,
or to approach a RIPA Board member at the next RIPA event. If you know of a deserving
potential candidate, refer them to this web site, or to any Rhode
Island flight training school, or to their school guidance counselor.
